Materials

We frosted a 6 inch and 8 inch tier for this cake using our Fluffy Vanilla Buttercream recipe. Each tier was on it's own cardboard cake circle as usual. 5 bubble tea straws were placed beneath the 6 inch tier, and 2 bubble tea straws were placed beneath the 4 inch dummy/top hat.

425g black fondant to cover the 4 inch dummy and create the brim.

Red fondant for the scarf, hat, and holly berries, plus small amount of orange fondant (nose), green fondant (holly leaves)

Coloring Gel: We used Americolor Orange, Wilton Leaf Green, and our red & black fondant were pre-colored.

18 gauge paper stem wire {available at craft stores like Michael’s or Jo Ann Fabrics}. Each arm was made from a wires cut to 7 inches and 3.5 inches.

Drinking Straw: Anchor for arms

Lollipop Stick (anchor for nose)

Chocolate Chips: We used Ghirardelli brand (60% cacao) chips which are a little larger for the eyes and buttons. We used mini chocolate chips for the mouth. Of course you can substitute with your chocolate candies or chips of choice ;0)

4 inch cake dummy for top hat- You could of course use a 4" cake tier, or create a shaped rice cereal treat hat, lightly coated with shortening and covered with fondant.

Piping Tips: We used a Wilton 4 for the polka dots

Piping Gel

Miscellaneous: Cardboard Cake Circles for both tiers, disposable piping bags, bubble tea straws for support, shortening, FMM Multi ribbon cutter (optional tool)

  1. Love it! So cute! I've always wanted to make a snowman cake :) Might have to do it now!

Super cute and clever as always!

  2. So cute. You mention in the video that you used a vanilla cake recipe. I don't see one labelled that in the recipe section. Is it the white cake from scratch? I know I can use any recipe, just wanted one that will hold up to the weight. Also, can you tell me how many recipes of the cake did you need to make for 3 eight inch layers and 3 six inch layers. Thanks. I'd love to try this.

  3. The weather has taken a turn and is C-O-L-D. I'm in the perfect mood to try a snowman cake. This one is adorable. Gonna give it a try!
