These cupcakes are perfect for farm-themed parties. Each one is frosted with a crusting buttercream, and all accents are buttercream with the exception of the pig faces, which are fondant.
Using a large round tip (I used an Ateco 808 this time) I frosted the white buttercream as the base frosting, which I then allowed to crust for a few minutes and then smoothed with a Viva brand paper towel. I repeated this process for the cupcakes that had an extra layer of color using a medium sized round tip (tip 12).
* Make sure that if you are using this method of smoothing, that you do not frost the cupcakes while they are cold. They must be at room temperature in order for the icing to crust enough to smooth.
