How do you keep the design from stretching out when smoothing the fondant over the cake? I roll out my fondant and then put the mat down on the fondant and roll over it again to get the impression on the fondant. I pick-up the fondant and drape it over the cake...but then when I try to smooth the fondant down the sides of the cake, it stretches out the impression design and doesn't look very good :0(

I've also tried putting the mat up against the side of the cake after it was covered in the fondant, but I couldn't get a well defined impression without the buttercream or ganache squishing under the fondant.

What am I doing wrong? Any tips or suggestions?

    Thanks!
